Last Chance to Hit the Reset Button?

The "Drift Effect"

For this transformative election, we may have to adjust conventional thinking about how we vote before we realize that we have an opportunity to reestablish a proper system of government. Our ability to voice our character trait preferences for our presidential candidates and our capacity to put forth a candidate with “personal role model” qualities depends entirely on this election cycle. Looking back, we have not had a role model president since Ronald Reagan and his VP, thanks to recent successive administrations. After the assassination of JFK, the power centers of our establishments have incubated and groomed the presidential candidates for either party. As the selection process has depended less and less on input from "we the people," the character qualities of recently elected presidents have “drifted” farther and farther away from the character qualities that we look for. “The Drift Effect” finally compelled voters and delegates in this year’s Republican primary to reject all establishment candidates. They chose a candidate who demonstrated a strong rejection of, and immunity to, establishment connections. On the Democratic side, however, we see business as usual. Furthermore, their system rules predominantly bypass the will of the people with “super delegates.”

Analogous to how our country has chosen who runs for office, I’m sure we’ve all encountered a situation while driving where we made a wrong turn and ended up on a highway going the wrong way. Depending on your lucky stars you may or may not have had a nearby exit. For me I rarely had good luck in those situations but sometimes I was given an alternative, the option of the grass median. This option isn’t always available as one must be careful of the Highway Patrol. However, if you are located 60 miles or more from the next exit, the reward for crossing over the median is immeasurable. It saves a lot of time and keeps you on track without further loss. As you may have imagined I’ve drawn an analogy where we are in the car as the American people, the Highway Patrol is the establishment, and Trump is the median. He is the bridge to get back on track with government "by, for, and of the people." That track would regain our ability to voice, as a people, our preferences for presidential candidates.

Getting Us Back On Track

Originally we intended to hire Trump to “stop the bleeding” or “turn the car around.” However, as we watch Trump grow and develop through the campaign process we see that he has potential for more. In addition to having the strong side of the issues and ideas, he shows the capacity to recruit the right people who would foster a much stronger example of behavioral integrity from our government. Granted that is not that difficult to achieve given the current level of corruption within the Justice Department, IRS, White House, and State Department. Trump however also understands that conservative policies empower and place more responsibility in the hands of states and local communities. As positive example setting and mentoring is very much a local dynamic, this should attract all. This kind of empowerment ultimately strengthens the all-important family unit. Additionally, Trump feels strongly about the implications of vacant seats on the Supreme Court. This is perhaps the most crucial crossroads we face as a nation as this issue most impacts our way of life, culture, identity, and destiny thereof. The President has a four-year election cycle while the Supreme Justices have lifetime terms. This creates an imperative to fill the Supreme Court with justices who will protect the Constitution, the valued long-term foundational rock upon which we govern. The next president has the power to open the way for the courts to definitively shape and secure our future, both at the national and personal levels. That is huge.

The Top 10 Character Qualities for our next president that are necessary to restore proper government (these “trump” all else):

  1. Respects the will of the people

  2. Respects the Constitution and the rule of law

  3. Appreciates and respects the checks and balances of our government that our forebears thoughtfully framed

  4. Carries out duties boldly with transparency, integrity, and honesty

  5. Is a principal and conviction based decision-maker instead of an ideological one; has great judgment and instincts

  6. Desires to help the American worker

  7. Desires to strongly lead and not follow

  8. Desires to inspire and unify all Americans

  9. Desires to work hard and do what it takes to work with others to solve problems; is open to and respectful of opinions other than one’s own

  10. Desires to make America great

Conclusion: If “role model” presidents are ultimately your top priority, the choice is clear.

If you want our system of government to allow voters to elect role models for your children and your children's children, then you must choose a change agent now in this election. We may never have the opportunity again. That was the urgency of Brexit in Great Britain. As in the UK, the power-center establishment here will be an irreversible prospect in the future. That is the argument. “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need.”

We have a situation now where a sitting (lame duck) president has actively campaigned (on our tax dollars) for an alleged criminal to succeed him in office. Does that sound like a system that can heal itself? The President knew that HRC used an illegal server as he was on the receiving end of the emails. Yet the system could not remove the corruption as we have we have voted in too many corrupt officials.

Obama's policies equally reflect the corruption. One of his current campaign lines is, “this counts.” Mr. President, does it count that on your watch for the last eight years a major portion of our population has been only partially employed or entirely unemployed? Does it count that you hid the numbers? Does it count... let’s just list it out:

  1. The slaughter of Benghazi consulate officers

  2. Iran Deal; Paid $1.7 Billion cash via unmarked plane, bound us to a nuclear deal that will enable instead of disable Iran's nuclear ability

  3. Iran aggression; our soldiers humiliated, our military recklessly taunted

  4. Murder of our police officers and the fomenting of racial divide and violence

  5. The formation of real-estate-holding ISIS; allowed them to organize, carry out terrorist attacks, and commit genocide of Christians as well as their own people, women, and children

  6. Brutal murders, and other crimes including rape, of American citizens. Presidential executive orders provided space for Illegal alien criminals to return repeatedly and to have asylum in sanctuary cities only to ultimately commit these crimes. I.e. Kate Steinle

  7. Inner city violence, poverty, and education epidemics

  8. Veteran deaths through VA medical care neglect

  9. Advocation of late term abortion (this is also evidence that they prioritize satisfaction of special interest groups over protection of life itself)

  10. The spread of government corruption

  11. Loss of American jobs; international outsourcing. Stalled economy

  12. Lack of energy independence

  13. Obamacare; medical and financial hardship

  14. A weak America due to globalist ideology

What was the one thing the President was supposed to do? Rebuild the economy. There was no higher priority for the last eight years. Did he do it? No, he “didn't build that” at all.

Meanwhile, as we watch Donald Trump authentically talk about love of his family, of the people who he has encountered during his campaign, and of America, we see the potential of someone who is human. As Trump held up high a baby from a mother in the crowd today, Neil Cavuto observed that the image was one akin to that of The Lion King. When we see how his very respected and down-to-earth family speak about him and his love for them, we see it is genuine. Observe his compassion for our veterans and his sincere desire to help them. Judge not a book by its cover.

We have decided in a very deliberate way to usher in a change agent to supplant the establishment and restore proper government. We deemed this the country’s top priority and, so far in the election process, relegated the job to Donald Trump, who continues to make the case that he is up for that and more. Perspectives have shifted. We see that the only way to restore our strength and greatness is to elect a strong pro-American president who will restore representation by, for, and of the people. That is a foundation that we can build on. With the touch of a reset button, the future of our nation and everyone in it could once again belong to “we the people.”
